Lord Hanuman, known for his strength and devotion, is mostly worshipped during Tuesdays and Saturdays. He is called by various names like Pawan Putra, Sankat Mochan, Anjani Putra, Hanu, etc. As the name the collection called Hanuman Ashtak has various verses(8). So as the word ‘ashtak,’ meaning eight, indicates the number of verses in the collection, Hanuman Ashtak is a popular collection of eight verses dedicated to Lord Hanuman.
The verses from Hanuman Ashtak are recited along with those from the Hanuman Chalisa during the special ceremony held for worship and several religious people recite these all collections, namely Hanuman Chalisa, Hanuman Ashtak and Bajrag Ban to make their life better and full of strength and knowledge. These religious persons also recommend others, meditating on the lord while reciting these verses as a sincere prayer containing these verses is said to assure a devotee with knowledge and strength.

Andhiyaro Tahi so tras bhayo jag ko, Yeh sankat kahu ko jaat no taro Deven ani kari binti tab, chadi diyo ravi kasht nivaro Ko nahi janat hai jag mein kapi, sankat mochan naam tumharo……..
Bali ki tras kapees base giri, jaat mahaprabhu panth niharo Chaunkimahamuni shaap diyo tab, chihiye kaun vichar vicharo Kai dwij roop livay mahaprabhu, so tum das ke shook nivaro Ko nahi janat hai jag mein kapi sankat mochan naam tumharo…….
Angad ke sang lein gaye siy, khoj kapis yeh bain ucharo Jevat na bachaun ham so ju, bina sudh lay ehan pag dharo Heri thake tak sindhu sabe tab, lay siya sudhi praan ubaro Ko nahi janat hai jag mein kapi sankat mochan naam tumharo…….
Ravan tras dai siy to tab, rakshai so kahi shok nivaro Tahi samay Hanuman mahaprabhu, Jay aha rajnichar maro Chahat siy asok so agi su, dai prabhu mudrika sok nivaro Ko nahi janat hai jag mein kapi sankat mochan naam tumharo…….
Baan lage ur lachan ke tab, pran tajyu sut raavan maro Le grah vaid suhen samet, tabe giri dron subir uparo, Ani sajivan hath dei tab, lachiman ke tum pran ubaro Ko nahi janat hai jag mein kapi sankat mochan naam tumharo……
Ravan judh ajan kiyo tab, nag ki phasn sabe sir daro Shri raghunath samet sabay dal, oh bhayo yeh sankat bharo Ani khagesh tabe hanuman jum, bandhan kati sutras nivaro Ko nahi janat hai jag mein kapi sankat mochan naam tumharo……

Kaaj kiye bar deven ke tum, vie mahaprabhu dekhi vicharo Kaun so aankat mor garib ko, jo tumso nahi jaat hai taro Begi haro Hanuman mahaprabhu, Jo kachu sankat hoi hamaro Ko nahi janat hai jag mein kapi sankat mochan naam tumharo………
